DRAFT PICKS: Tiago Splitter, PF, 6-11, Argentina. Battle-tested 22-year-old will play at least one more year in Spain before beginning his NBA career.

Marcus Williams, SF, 6-7, Arizona. A bit of a disappointment offensively in two years with the Wildcats, Williams figures to make his initial mark in the NBA as an aggressive defender.
Giorgos Printezis, SF, 6-9, Greece. No. 58 overall pick was dealt to Toronto for a second-round pick in 2008.

Manager focus: Having re-signed Fabricio Oberto, Jacque Vaughn and Matt Bonner, the Spurs have no managers.

C Fabricio Oberto's gamble paid off. Risking $2.5 million and a possible future with the Spurs when he choose out of the final year of his contract, Oberto was salaried with a small raise  and a chance to join in San Antonio's effort to do again at winner. But he was at his most excellent in the playoffs, particularly when he contribute 10.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in the Utah series.

C Jackie Butler put his most excellent foot forward in the Las Vegas summer league, most important the Spurs in scoring 12.2 and rebounding 7.0. But instead of earning him a shot at the club's 12-man, usual-season roster, it got him dealt to Houston the length of with Luis Scola in a contract for Vassilis Spanoulis.

F James White went to Las Vegas, like team-mate Jackie Butler, to show he deserved more of a role with the Spurs next period. Unlike Butler, the swingman did not differentiate himself out west, then hurt his ankle in the summer-league ending. It's fairly.
