The Spurs Care...

Spurs players, coaches, front office workers, Silver Dancers, Coyote and former player George Gervin make more than 1,200 looks in the community each year. yearly, the Spurs and Spurs Foundation support more than 1,800 area associations with in-kind or cash payments. In-kind donations (tickets, autographed memorabilia, appearances, etc.) are used to raise thousands of dollars for generous causes in the San Antonio area.

The non-profit 501(c) (3) Spurs Foundation was recognized in 1988 to make goodwill and financial support for inexpensively, expressively and bodily deprived youth in South Texas. Since its inception in 1988, the Spurs Foundation has given more than ten million dollars in cash and in-type contributions to worthy South Texas children.

The Spurs Foundation's volunteer board includes admirers, neighbourhood leaders, former Spurs players and representatives from the corporate and civic divisions.

As well to corporate and person donations, 3 major annual fundraisers support the Spurs Foundation: the Spurs mix up Golf Tournament presented by IKON Office Solutions, the Tip-Off Luncheon presented by Southwest Airlines and the Tux 'N Tennies Dinner and sale presented by Southwest Business Corporation. The whole Spurs team and coaching staff participate in all 3 of these events. yearly, proceeds from fundraising efforts allow the Spurs Foundation to:

Award more than $125,000 in grants to organizations that work with and on behalf of young people.
Team up with the Tim Duncan Foundation to know and reward 3,000 children who show honesty, reliability, fairness, caring and civic liability from side to side Tim Duncan's Character program.
Recognize and prize 3,000 children who make healthy nutrition and bodily fitness choices through the “Get Fit with Bruce & Buddy” program supported by Bruce Bowen, H-E-B and the Spurs Foundation.

Donate additional than 30,000 Spurs, Silver Stars tickets to underserved area childhood, families and area charitable trust through school-based student inducement programs.

Partner with Brent and Erin Barry to raise funds dedicated to ill-treated and deserted children as well as endorse child abuse and neglect prevention attempts.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING & RECOGNITION

The San Antonio Spurs are powerfully committed to following a quality education for our community's children and the personnel of tomorrow. Incentive-based programs prize more than 235,000 rewards that teachers use as motivators to hold up school curriculum and to endorse academic success, character development and most significantly reading.

Read to Achieve The NBA's and interpret to Achieve program is a year-round movement to help youthful people develop a life-long love for interpretation and give confidence adults to read frequently with children. Reaching an estimated fifty million children a year, Read to achieve is the most wide educational outreach plan in the history of expert sports.

In San Antonio, the Spurs put into practice Read to achieve from side to side instructive programming, read aloud events with Spurs players and coaches, and free book gifts. For the 8th year, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will have the chance to add in the Spurs Slam Dunk Reading Challenge presented by IBC reading competition to win Spurs and Rampage game tickets, or the grand prize – a Spurs player hosting a read aloud occasion for their class.
