The 2005 World Champion San Antonio Spurs will hold their 2005 training camp at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center on the school's St. Thomas campus.

The Spurs will travel to St. Thomas on Oct. 3 and will hold their entire training camp at UVI, with the first practice scheduled for Oct. 4. All practices will take place in the UVI Sports and Fitness Center. The team will remain in the territory until Oct. 9, before

San Antonio Spurs to hold preparation Camp.

The 2005 World Champion San Antonio Spurs will hold their 2005 training camp at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center on the school's St. Thomas campus.

All practices will take place in the UVI Sports and Fitness Center. The team will stay in the zone until Oct. 9, before heading back to the mainland for a game next to the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 14.

UVI President Dr. LaVerne E. Ragster said it is a respect for the University to be bright to host Spurs self-assured Tim Duncan, who was born and raised on St. Croix.

"We are satisfied and very proud to be able to do this,” she said. "We are friendly our native son back to the country with open arms. It is good quality to have a Virgin Islander of national build come back so that the people can celebrate his success."

"This is a very thrilling event for everybody in the Virgin Islands," said UVI Athletic Director Peter Sauer. "We are thrilled that an NBA team is pending to our neighbourhood. The feature that it is the San Antonio Spurs makes it even sweeter.

For the last ten years the Spurs have served as the mock-up franchise in the NBA. Not merely do they win on the square but they do all the right way, from their ownership to their basketball employees to their players and front place of work."

"We've forever thought concerning holding training camp in the Virgin Islands," said Spurs General Manager RC Buford. "It absolutely is something that is very significant to Tim Duncan" The team's every day practice schedule will be make known at a later date.
